The Major Transits of 2026: Jupiter, Saturn, and Rahu–Ketu
At the end of 2025, I taught a class exploring the major planetary movements shaping 2026 — particularly the slower-moving planets, which tend to define the deeper emotional and collective atmosphere of the year.
Rather than looking at individual charts, this reflection focuses on the broader themes we’re all experiencing.
Astrology reveals seasons of growth. Just as we don’t plant seeds in winter or harvest in spring, the planets show us which areas of life are expanding and which are asking for maturity.
In 2026, three transits stand out: Jupiter, Saturn, and Rahu–Ketu.
Let’s explore what they may be inviting from us.
Jupiter: From Information Overload to Inner Wisdom
Jupiter begins the year in Gemini.
Gemini is the sign of information, communication, data, and curiosity. It’s the world of endless knowledge — search engines, AI, podcasts, commentary, constant input.
It’s like placing the Guru in a university classroom.
There’s a beautiful story in Autobiography of a Yogi where Yogananda is sent to university by his Guru. He attends, but his heart remains at the feet of Sri Yukteswar. The degree is necessary — but the real wisdom lies elsewhere.
This captures Jupiter in Gemini.
In the first half of the year, there is tremendous access to knowledge — but also the risk of mental overstimulation. The remedy is not withdrawal from the world, but remembering the difference between information and wisdom.
Meditation becomes essential. Silence is medicine.
After June, Jupiter moves into Cancer, where he is exalted. Here, wisdom becomes internalised. The scattered knowledge of Gemini settles into intuitive knowing.
The movement of 2026 is from mental busyness toward embodied guidance.
Saturn in Pisces: Emotional Maturity and Structure
Saturn spends the year in Pisces.
Pisces is sensitive, porous, deeply feeling. It can also be boundaryless.
Imagine a spiritual community with no rules, no schedule, no structure. Initially it feels free. Eventually it feels chaotic.
Saturn enters and installs doors. He creates a timetable. He defines limits.
Where Pisces has been vague or overwhelming, Saturn asks for responsibility.
On a personal level, this may show up as the need for more structure in areas that have felt loose or inconsistent. It may also bring greater awareness of our emotional landscape.
Pisces absorbs feeling. Saturn does not allow avoidance.
If we try to numb or distract, Saturn increases discomfort until we face what is present. But he is not cruel — he is clarifying.
The invitation is emotional maturity:
Can we feel without collapsing?
Can we respond instead of react?
Can we create structure where there has been drift?
Saturn in Pisces asks us to hold feeling with steadiness.
Rahu and Ketu: Authority and Belonging
Rahu moves through Aquarius.
Ketu moves through Leo.
Leo represents sovereignty — the king on the throne.
Aquarius represents the council — the collective voice.
Imagine a wise king who initially consults his council. Over time, he begins to doubt himself and lets them decide everything. Then he swings to the opposite extreme, dismissing them entirely and ruling from pride.
Rahu and Ketu operate through this kind of polarity.
In 2026, many may feel tension between personal authority and group belonging.
Do we lose our voice in order to fit in?
Or do we isolate ourselves to protect our ego?
The healthy expression is integration:
Listening to the collective without abandoning inner authority.
Belonging without self-betrayal.
Participating consciously rather than reacting from insecurity.
Final Thought: Small Practices, Steady Growth
These transits are invitations to grow.
Jupiter reminds us to move from noise toward wisdom.
Saturn asks for emotional maturity and structure.
Rahu and Ketu challenge us to balance sovereignty with participation.
The most powerful response is simple and daily:
Meditation.
Prayer.
Service.
Small acts of steadiness.
The planets show seasons. Our practice determines how we move through them.
