Hi, I'm Surya
Like many people who eventually turn toward inner work, my spiritual journey didn’t begin because life was easy — it began because, at a certain point, it wasn’t working anymore. I was searching for clarity, meaning, and a way to understand why certain patterns kept repeating in my life.
In my mid-twenties, that search led me through different paths — Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta, and various contemplative traditions — before I eventually found my spiritual home with Ananda and my Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda. That path grounded me, gave me practices that actually worked, and helped me relate to life’s challenges in a deeper, more spacious way.
Enter Astrology
Astrology entered my life during this same period, not as a belief system, but as a tool for understanding timing, patterns, and emotional cycles. My first reading was a turning point. It didn’t tell me what to do — it helped me recognise myself. It gave language to things I had always felt but couldn’t quite articulate. Most importantly, it showed me that what I was going through wasn’t random — it was meaningful. And it was temporary!
Over time, astrology became a companion to my spiritual life. I studied deeply, learning from teachers such as Dennis Harness, Alan Annand, Ernst Wilhelm, Drupada MacDonald, and Kalidas Hansen, and gradually began offering readings to others. What started informally soon became clear work: sitting with people at moments of uncertainty, confusion, or transition, and helping them make sense of where they are.
How I work
I don’t approach astrology as merely prediction or fortune-telling.
I see it as a map of your karmic path — one that helps you understand:
- why certain emotions are surfacing now
- why some phases feel heavy or confusing
- why familiar patterns repeat
- and what this period is asking of you inwardly
Most people come to a reading because something feels off: they’re stuck at a crossroads, emotionally overwhelmed, uncertain about work or relationships, or quietly questioning their direction in life. Astrology helps place those feelings in context. It shows the season you’re in.
When we understand the season, we stop fighting ourselves — and that alone can be deeply healing.
Astrology as a Tool for Healing and Spiritual Growth
In a reading, we look at your birth chart to understand how different energies move through your life over time. Rather than overwhelming you with technical detail, I focus on what is relevant right now: the planetary cycles influencing your emotional world, your sense of purpose, your work, and your relationships.
Vedic astrology recognises that life unfolds in phases. Some are expansive and creative; others are quieter, heavier, or more demanding. Neither is wrong. Each has a purpose. When we stop judging the phase we’re in, and start working with it, things begin to soften.
Astrology doesn’t remove difficulty — but it often brings clarity, reassurance, and a sense of meaning, which allows you to meet life with more steadiness and self-trust.
A Note on Lineage and Intention
My work is guided by the teachings of my spiritual lineage and an ongoing effort to attune to higher guidance rather than ego or prediction. I offer the deepest gratitude to my Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, Swami Kriyananda, and the teachers of the Ananda path, whose wisdom continues to shape how I live and serve.
Everything I offer is an attempt to pass on the clarity, grounding, and perspective that have helped me through my own periods of uncertainty. If you’ve found your way here because something feels unclear or heavy in your life, you’re not alone. You may simply be in a phase of learning.
