Jupiter in Leo 2026

Jupiter Moves into Leo 2026: The Guru and the King

After almost 12 years, Jupiter is once again moving into Leo, the sign of the Sun.

Jupiter enters Leo on 31 October, beginning a brief first passage through the sign before retrograding back into Cancer on 25 January. He’ll then return to Leo and remain there from 25 June next year.

This is an important transit because Jupiter and the Sun have a very harmonious relationship in Jyotish. The Sun is the King, while Jupiter is the Guru. When the King and the Guru come together, we have a powerful combination of leadership and wisdom, authority and understanding, action and guidance.

A King becomes more powerful when he receives good advice. And the Guru is in his element when he is able to advise the King.

Both the Sun and Jupiter are sattwic planets, connected with truth, wisdom, light, dharma and higher understanding. Jupiter’s movement into Leo therefore brings a fiery and sattwic quality, encouraging us to seek greater meaning and to act according to what we know to be true.

From receiving to embodying wisdom

Jupiter is currently leaving Cancer, his sign of exaltation. Cancer is a sign of nourishment, protection and inner growth, and Jupiter’s time there has given us the opportunity to receive, absorb and cultivate wisdom.

Now, as Jupiter moves into Leo, the emphasis becomes more active. What can we do with the knowledge we have learned? What can we create or share?

There is a transition from receiving wisdom to embodying and expressing wisdom.

Leo asks us to step forward and take creative action. Jupiter expands whatever he touches, and in Leo this can bring expansion through teaching, creativity, leadership, self-expression and the sharing of knowledge.

The Guru, Ketu and lineage

There is another particularly interesting dimension to this transit.

Jupiter will join Ketu in Leo, and the two will be travelling through Magha nakshatra, which has powerful connections with ancestry, lineage and the traditions that have come before us.

This can make this period particularly significant for deepening our understanding of our ancestry, family lineage and spiritual lineage.

For those on the spiritual path, it may be a powerful time to explore our relationship with our Gurus, teachers and the traditions from which our spiritual knowledge has come.

Reflect on what you have inherited, what has been passed down, and what you are here to carry forward.

The end of the Rahu–Ketu cycle

Jupiter’s movement into Leo also coincides with the final part of the current Rahu–Ketu transit through Leo and Aquarius.

The nodes will soon change signs, bringing an end to a cycle that has been unfolding for approximately a year and a half.

Jupiter has a capacity to bring the influence of Rahu and Ketu under greater control, and his presence in Leo during the final months of this nodal transit can offer a sense of wisdom and guidance as this cycle comes to completion.

Whatever lessons Rahu and Ketu have been bringing over the past year and a half, this can be a good time to reflect on them. What have you learned? What has changed? What is it time to let go of?

This is a beautiful time to pray to the Guru for guidance and to offer your challenges to God. Rather than simply trying to understand everything intellectually, we can ask for wisdom to see the deeper meaning in what we have experienced. Remember “Your trials did not come to destroy you but to awaken you.” (Yogananda)

Watch the ego

There is potentially a shadow side to Jupiter in Leo.

Jupiter expands, and Leo relates to the self, authority and recognition. This can sometimes manifest as an expansion of pride, self-importance or ego.

The higher expression of Jupiter in Leo is not about showing people how important you are but about asking, “What can I contribute? How can I serve”

The Guru does not advise the King so that the King can become more arrogant. Wisdom is there to help power become purposeful.

So this transit asks us to develop confidence without pride, leadership without domination, and self-expression without losing humility.

Where will Jupiter fall in your chart?

Finally, look at which house Leo occupies in your Vedic birth chart.

This is the area of life where Jupiter will bring his expansive influence during this transit.

Jupiter will likely bring blessings and opportunities to this area of your life, whether it is career, dharma, relationships, or wealth. We are being asked to develop wisdom and understanding in this area, and if we do the karmic tree will come to fruition, and the blessings will come.

So, after 12 years, the Guru is returning to the sign of the King.

What wisdom have you gathered since Jupiter was last here 12 years ago? And what are you now ready to do with it?
